Greetings!

The weather of the past week has been fantastic and spring fever is upon us! Unfortunately, the forecast for the rest of the week isn't looking nearly as nice. We hope everyone is starting to gear up for the upcoming show season. There are approximately 2 ½ months until our first show of the year! The board has been working hard planning the upcoming season and there are many chapter events to announce. We hope to see everyone at the awards dinner but until then … Keep thinking spring!

Annual Awards Banquet

The awards banquet will be held on March 10th, 2006 at the Tamarack Junction Casino, South Reno. A "Walking Appetizer" menu will be served and there will be a no host bar. The menu includes:

April Show

The April show will be held April 22nd & 23rd at Franktown Meadows. The Judge is Fran Dearing. Please note that show premiums will not be mailed out. Please download your premium from the website (premiums will be coming to the web soon).

Volunteers are needed for the April show which is fast approaching. If you can volunteer please contact Mary Ann Christensen at maryac@unr.edu

Education

A scribe and scoring training session

April 15th a scribe and scoring training session is being planned at Avalon Friesians. Volunteer riders have filled all of the spots except for freestyle. Anyone interested in scribing should contact Jaki Hardy at jakihardy@yahoo.com

Calling all Show Managers

We are still seeking a Director of Shows for 2006. If you have any interest in the position please contact Beth at curle@mindspring.com and she can explain what will be involved.

2006 Amateur Clinic

The northern CDS Amateur Clinic will be held June 8-11, at Lilo Fore's Sport Horse America stable. Lilo Fore will be the clinician. The clinic format starts with an introductory lecture session the evening prior to the first day of the clinic and three days of riding sessions. SNC-CDS club members interested in attending the amateur clinic as our club representative needs to submit a written application of intent to Beth Coffey-Curle (curle@mindspring.com) by April 1, 2006.

At the April SNC monthly meeting, the names of all applications will be placed into a hat and a rider and an alternate will be drawn out.

2006 Show Calendar

The 2006 SNC Show calendar is complete and is below. Thank you again to Susan Ward and Mary Anne Christensen for all their hard work lining up judges.

2006 USDF Instructor Certification

Ellie Kennedy is organizing the 2006 Instructor Certifications for Regions 7. Below is the Workshop and Testing Schedule. USDF Instructor Certification workshops and testing will be held at Riverside Equestrian Center in Petaluma, CA in 2006. This is currently the only series of workshops, pre-certification and testing scheduled in Region 7 for 2006.

Testing will be scheduled sometime in September.

Christiane Noëlting Clinic dates for 2006:

Price is $110. Location: Franktown Meadows Coordinators are sought to coordinate scheduling for any particular month. For 7 paid rides in a day, the coordinator receives a $38 credit. Each paid ride after 7 paid rides results in an additional credit of $15 for the coordinator. Each day of the clinic operates the same way. The coordinator is in charge of Christiane's lunches and her dinner Saturday night. Joan will house her and give her breakfast. If you are interested in coordinating give Joan a call at 882-9070.

Juniors Take Inventory

On February 4th there was an inventory taken of all of the supplies for next years show season. Thanks very much to the Juniors who assisted as well as Cindy Hoonhout for organizing the event. They inventoried and organized the supplies and located items that could be used in the silent auction to raise funds for the club.
