Dressage in the Sierra 2006 & 2007

This years Dressage In The show at Franktown Meadows was a wonderful success thanks to the help of many volunteers, a fantastic show crew and great weather. We’re already starting to work out the details for 2007, including adding a second show on Friday (like Golden State Dressage does their Warm Up/ Cool Down show). This means that we’ll need more volunteer and sponsorship help than ever as well as participation by riders. Spread the word!! The Championships will be held at Rancho Murieta next year and we’re doing our best to provide much local showing opportunities for folks to qualify. Keep an eye on the calendar for dates and details.

Speaking of the calendar…Show dates for 2007

The tentative 2007 SNC show calendar

In addition to the above SNC shows, Equest Training Center has announced that they will be holding two CDS shows next year as well. Their tentative show dates are:
May 20th & July 22nd.

2007 Board of Directors

We’re nearing that time again when we’ll be looking for folks for the SNC Board of Directors. If you are interested in becoming or board member or would like to know more about a position, please contact any of us on the board and we’d be happy to give you all the details! Contact information for all Board members can be found on the SNC web site under “Chapter Info”.

Clinic Announcements

Please check the Calendar page of the web site for additional clinics by Christiane Noelting in October and November.

In a rare visit to the West Coast, Monica Theodorescu will be the featured clinician along with Dennis Callin in a unique symposium held on November 10th , 11th, and 12th in beautiful Hidden Valley at Royal Oaks Farm, hosted by Anke Magnussen.

Monica is an Olympic Gold Medallist and World Cup winner. She is one of the world's top dressage riders and was recently selected by the International Dressage Riders Club to be their representative to the FEI. Dennis Callin, who has trained with the Theodorescu's since 1983, is currently based at the Theodorescu training facility, Gestut Lindenhof, in Warendorf. The clinic will provide a unique symposium; featuring two clinicians working with riders and interacting with auditors.

Organized by Ellen Eckstein, the clinic is open to auditors at a pre-registration fee of $40 per day. For information concerning auditing, call Darlene Johnson at (310) 5435-7368. For rider information call Ellen at (805) 441-9278. This will be an opportunity to see Monica work with a variety of horses and riders, Juniors, amateurs, and professionals from Training level through Grand Prix, with commentary by Dennis....don't miss it!

Jec Aristotle Ballou (101 Dressage Exercises) will be in Reno October 21st-22nd for a Dressage clinic. It will be held at Cloverleaf with approximately 8 sessions per day. Cost is $60/lesson, auditing is free. To sign up contact Lisa Stapleton at 750-3232.

SNC Christmas Party

It may seem early but we’re already putting plans together for the annual SNC Christmas party. The party will be Sunday December 10th from 3pm-6pm at Beth Coffey-Curle’s barn. We’ll be doing pot luck for eats and drinks and there will be horse-driven hay rides and Christmas carols. The chapter had a party just like this several years back and it was a blast! Please mark your calendars and try to come.
